RSG Awards Road, Flyover Contracts

Government has awarded contract for the construction of Rumuokoro –Rumuaholu road and a fly-over along the on-going Igwuruta – Eneka – Rumuokrurushi road.
The State Commissioner for Works Victor Giadom who disclosed this while fielding questions from journalists in his office, recently, said the flyover project would be built above the East-West road at Rumuokwurushi axis of Igwuruta – Eneka, Rumuokurushi road at the point popularly known as Tank, explaining that the project when completed would help for the free flow of traffic in the area.
According to him, there has been traffic – jam that occurs at that point where the two roads intersect, and hinted that the contractor awarded the Rumuokoro – Rumuoholu road had already marked some buildings for demolition.
He said any building that fell within the right-of-way of the road construction would be demolished, pointing out that as soon as the state government releases money, the demolition exercise would begin, after the payment of compensation to genuine property owners.
“The construction work will begin in earnest and the road will be completed before the end of this administration”, he noted.
The Works Commissioner also disclosed that the contractor handling the Igwuruta – Eneka – Rumuokwurushi road had done well on the project, with the laying of binder course up to that point called ‘Tank’, adding that the level of work would get to Aba road by the end of the month.
