The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Usman Gwary, led the demolition squad, accompanied by Mr James Nwafor the Commander of the state’s Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), on Tuesday.
Gwary said that the demolition followed the arrest and subsequent parade of 17 suspects before newsmen.
”In line with the provisions of the law of Anambra State, the Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has revoked the certificate of occupancy and has equally ordered its demolition. “Any building used for any form of crime or built with the proceeds of crime in the state must be demolished” Gwary said.
The paraded suspects were accused of kidnap, armed robbery, hijacking of goods and faking of vehicle number plates and licences.
The commissioner gave the names of three suspects as Ndubuisi Udokoro, Lawrence Nweze and Moredays Chukwuma.
According to him, two other persons dealing on ammunition Chigozie Ezeora and Chukwudi Ugwu, were arrested with a large number of ammunition.
Also, Nnaemeka Ugonna and Onyeka Okoli were nabbed in the commercial city of Onitsha for alleged motorcycle robbery.
