A youth activist and former Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) presidential aspirant, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri has accused Bayelsa State  Governor, Seriake Dickson of bringing social liberty in the state to a gradual halt.
Lokpobiri, who spoke to a group of journalists at the Federated Corespondents’ Chapel office in Yenagoa said the state was sliding to a situation where anybody who belongs  to another party or has contrary views on the affairs of the state was hunted down for prosecution.
He contended that within the past few weeks, most prominent Bayelsa citizens who were associates of the former Governor  Timipre Sylva have been arrested on fabricated allegations.
“The selection of some persons associated with previous administrations for arrest and prosecution would not do the state any good, as those who could not withstand the action are closing their businesses and running away to other states of the federation”, Lokpobiri claimed.
He said even though Governor Seriake Dickson was a victim of such obnoxious policy of  the immediate past government, it was expected that he would not embark on this voyage of vengeance by hunting real and perceived enemies.
The former IYC presidential aspirant advised the governor to concentrate his attention on the provision of infrastructural development  projects to the people of the state which he had already started doing, as chasing shadows in the form of enemies would not bring any credit to his government.
According to the youth activist, the security adviser to the governor who had been fabricating allegations against innocent people should be called to order, while some other political appointees who he said, were carrying out a lot  of evil  acts in name of government should be cautioned.
On his IYC presidential ambition, he said, after he had made his point as an aggrieved person on perceived injustice perpetrated against him, through protest, he has decided to leave everything to God.
“As bona fide member of the organisation, I cannot destroy it, rather I should help to advance it so that the aims and objectives will not be lost. We should remain focused as to achieve the collective aspirations of Ijaw people”, he insisted.
