Rumuodomaya Residents Send SOS To Government Over Robbery
Residents of the 1st
Transformer in Rumuodomaya Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State have called on the state government to help them stem the menace of robbers in the area.
Speaking with The Tide in Port Harcourt, last Monday, Mrs. Stella Akueke, a 1st Transformer resident, implored the state government to come to their rescue as robbery had become a daily occurrence in the area.
She complained that the robbers were very brutal as they dealt with people seriously in their homes at the wee hours of the morning, took away valuables and money.
The resident said she had an ugly experience when the robbers visited their home in Rumuodomaya and took away large sum of money and valuables.
Also speaking, Mr. Chikere Wanne, another resident said that it had become a helpless situation as robbers were left without opposition.
According to him, “last night the robbers also visited but thank God for the timely intervention of the police that prevented them from operating. It is unfortunate that each night the robbers choose a home to visit. Most of the time they have been going scot-free with it”.
Mr. Akueke pointed out that it had been difficult to tackle the situation as “batcher” residents have not given the security group the needed cooperation.
He expressed belief that some of the robbers were people that lived in the area and noted that God would soon expose them.
The resident called on the state commissioner of police to ensure that policemen were posted to the area.
Mr. Akueke expressed regrets that people lived in fear in the area.
