Police Parade Teenager For Alleged Murder, Rescue 7 Pregnant Teenagers
The police in Imo State
have paraded a 17-year-old boy for alleged murder of a four-year-old girl in Uvuru, Aboh Mbaise.
The Commissioner of Police in the state Mr Abdulmajid Ali, said the suspect was living with the parents of the little girl for the duration of his school certificate examinations.
Ali said the suspect lured the child, Gloria Eze, to a bush where he allegedly murdered her before hanging her body on a palm tree.
The suspect, however, told newsmen that he never intended to kill the child but did not know what came over him.
In a related development, Ali presented a 32-year-old man from Umuobidike, Owere Eberiri in Orlu, who allegedly murdered a 24-year-old woman and stole her three-month-old baby.
The command also paraded a medical doctor over the alleged abduction of a newborn baby from his maternity in Nekede, near Owerri.
He said the mother of the baby was delivered of a set of male twins but the doctor allegedly sold one of the babies and told her that she was delivered of one baby boy.
“We also arrested one man suspected to be operating an illegal maternity in Amuzi, Ahaizu-Mbaise, with four pregnant teenage girls between the ages of 18 and 22.
“Another illegal maternity operated by a man and his 17-year-old sister was also discovered in Udo in Ezinihite.
“We arrested the sister of the suspect, who escaped, and three pregnant girls between the ages of 19 and 21,’’ the commissioner said.
Also paraded were three suspects, one for allegedly snatching a Honda Accord saloon car, another suspect for the sale of adulterated petroleum products, while the other was for the vandalism and stealing of NITEL and electric cables.
The commissioner said that items recovered from them included 25 rolls of electric and NITEL cables and one Mercedes Benz bus.
