Mushroom, Most Versatile Crop – Farm CEO

Although neglected
by many and disregarded as one of the safest source of protein, mushrooms have been the food of the sages from time.
In an exclusive interview with our correspondent in his office recently, the Chief Executive Officer of Dilomat Farms, Chief Moore Chinda, described mushroom as the most versatile crop.
According to him, mushroom was the only crop that could be planted and harvested within one week.
He said while other conventional crop needed a lot of space to cultivate, mushroom needed little space even as he said there was not fear of weeds to the farmer.
On the economic aspect, he said it serves as an employer of labour as those engaged in mushroom cultivation stand the chance of enhancing their economic wellbeing.
He said, in developed countries like China and India,  the government was into the business of mushroom production which has greatly increase their GDP on a progressive scale.
On the health benefits, he said it was good for diabetic patients as it was low in cholesterol and other harmful substances found in meat and fish.
