ECOWAS Court Bemoans Non-Enforcement Of Last Judgments
The Economic Com
munity of West African States (ECOWAS) has listed delays and non-enforcement of the judgments of its Court of Justice as some difficulties facing it.
President of ECOWAS Commission, Mr Kadré Ouédraogo, who announced this in annual report released to newsmen in Abuja last Saturday, added that citizens also experienced difficulties in filing cases.
Ouédraogo presented the Annual Report for 2013 to the Summit of Regional Leaders in Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire, last Friday.
He, however, attributed the difficulties to the absence of competent authorities at the national level in some member states.
The report also said the commission signed a 56 million Euro
financing agreement with the European Union under the 10th European Development Fund (EDF).
“It was part of the operationalisation of the Regional Food Security Reserve launched along with a Regional
Agriculture Agency in Sept. 2013 to improve food availability in the region.
“The EU had doubled the envelope for the Regional Indicative Programme under the 10th EDF of the EU from 600 million
Euros to 1.2 billion Euros under the 11th EDF’’, it said.
