Court Remands Man For Robbery

Chief Magistrate Court presided over by I.O. Agbesor has remanded a twenty-seven year-old man, Monday Amasukwe into prison custody for alleged armed robbery and other criminal offences on charge sheet number PMC 619c/2014.
The accused person is arraigned on four court charge of armed robbery, stealing and illegal impossession of fire arms.
The police prosecutor, Sgt Aaron Nsirim alleged that the accused person and others now at large on the 13th day of February, 2014 at Elekahia in Port Harcourt Magisterial District did conspired among themselves to commit felony to wit: armed robbery.
The police prosecutor also alleged that the accused person on the same date in the afore said magisterial district while armed with pistol and other dangerous weapons, did rob one Okechukwu Marcel of the cash sum of one hundred thousand naira and one Nokia handset valued at the sum of fifty thousand naira.
The police prosecutor further alleged that the accused person while armed with pistol and other dangerous weapons, did rob one Azubuike Ewim of the cash sum of ten thousand naira, phone and recharge cards valued at the sum of two hundred thousand naira.
He further told the court that the accused while armed with pistol and other dangerous weapons, did rob Deinma Imbu of the cash sum of one hundred thousand naira, and a bag containing cash sum of twenty five thousand naira, recharge card, assorted hot drinks, three cell phones, soaps, T-shirts BYC singlets, all valued at the sum of three hundred thousand naira.
He averred that the accused person committed an offence punishable under section 6 (B), 1(1),(2) (a) 1 (1) (2) (a) of the Robbery and Fire Arms (Special Provision) Act Cap R11 Laws of the Federation 2004.
In his ruling, the Presiding Chief Magistrate I.O. Agbesor while remanding the accused to the Federal Prisons Port Harcourt ordered that the case file be forwarded to the office of the DPP via the chief registrar for legal advice and later adjourned the case to 16/4/2014.
