Coach Harps On Tennis Facilities Dev
The Head Coach of
the Ekiti State Table Tennis Association, Olubode Ajayi, has urged the State Government to provide essential training facilities for athletes, to boost the state’s profile in the sport.
Ajayi told newsmen in Lagos that a lack of training facilities had affected the performance of the state’s athletes in national competitions.
According to him, the State is blessed with a lot of budding talents in table tennis but a lack of facilities has been hampering the development of their skills.
“Our athletes need a good training hall for table tennis. The present place we are using for training is not encouraging.
“We implore the government to provide a good table tennis hall with the necessary equipment, to aid athletes’ training.
“If the equipment is of ITTF standard, it will spur our athletes to prepare ahead of competitions and excel.’’
The coach, who led the Ekiti contingent to the ongoing U-17 Toyin Okenla-Ojeaga Championships at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, lauded the sponsor for promoting table tennis in the country.
