The Nigeria Football Fed
eration (NFF) has congratulated the new Minister of Sports and Chairman, National Sports Commission, Dr Tamuno Danagogo, on his appointment.
A statement issued by NFA’s Assistant Director (Communications), Ademola Olajire, said Aminu Maigari, the association’s Chairman, congratulated Danagogo from Atlanta, U.S. where he is with the Super Eagles.
It quoted Maigari as welcoming the new minister to his new office and praying for continued success on and off the football pitch for Nigeria during his tenure.
“It is my special pleasure to, on behalf of the entire Nigerian football family, congratulate you on your new appointment and wish you tremendous success during your tenure.
“Our football has been experiencing a renaissance in the past two years and we pray that it continues and, in fact, gets better during your tenure,’’ Maigari was quoted as telling the new minister during the conversation.
Also, the NFA chairman told the minister he had urged the Super Eagles to win the international friendly against Mexico as a welcome package for him.
“We have never beaten Mexico at full international level, so it would be historic for us to win this time,’’ Maigari was quoted as telling Danagogo over the telephone.
In his response, the new sports minister prayed for the Super Eagles’ success in the game and urged the NFA chairman to call him at the end of the match.
