Imo Launches Parent, Teacher, Child Assessment Programme

The Imo Government has
launched the Parent/Teacher/Child Assessment and Mentoring Programme (PTCAP) to encourage healthier relationship among teachers, parents and the child as well as ensure quality education.
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo launched the programme at the Owerri City Primary School, Owerri, recently.
He said the move was to create a platform for collaboration among the teachers, parents and the child on continuous assessment of children with a view of ensuring their proper upbringing.
He appealed to teachers, principals and other heads of schools in the state to keep their communication lines with parents and the pupils open to know the position of the child at any given time.
The governor used the occasion to continue the payment of stipends and distribution of educational materials to pupils.
He said his administration introduced payment of stipends to pupils and students to appreciate the Imo child and give him a sense of ownership and participation in the affairs of the state and its resources.
Students in secondary schools were given monthly stipend of N500, while those in primary schools were given N300.
Responding on behalf of the students of Owerri City School, Miss Blessing Nwele, thanked the state government for the gesture.
She said that students would reciprocate the gesture by studying hard and being law abiding.
Present at the occasion were the Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Anwuka, and other dignitaries.
