Rivers Cyclists Emerge Winners In Championship
Rivers State cyclists
Edward Osim and Rita Aggo yesterday emerged champions of the 9th edition of Garden City Cycling Championship, held in Port Harcourt.
Osim and Aggo clinched first position in the professional male and female category with a time frame of 2 hours, 21 minutes, 18.742 seconds and Aggo finished 1 hour 45 minutes 2.23 seconds.
Meanwhile, in the veteran male elites event, Elewale Ifeanyi came first position, Uzoaha Ugochukwu and Achi Jacob came second and third positions respectively.
In the female veteran category, Akas Elizabeth from Akwa-Ibom State, Okon Patience and Nwachukwu Joy from Rivers State emerged first, second and third positions respectively.
Also, Vice Chairman of the State Cycling Association, Engineer Massari Giandomenico won the master veteran event.
While Calabe Kalisibe from Bayelsa State and Nelson Bassey, came second and third positions respectively in the same category.
Also, in the female category, Odise Glory and Tombaraye Dappa were placed second and third positions respectively.
Climax of the event was the presentations of trophies and cash awards to winners of the competition.
Earlier, the Vice-Chairman of the State Cycling Association, Engineer Massari Giandomenico, said the championship was beginning to gain prominence as there was increase in participation and improved officiating.
