Referees Promise Fair Officiating At Edo Taekwondo Festival
The President of the
Taekwondo Referees Association of Nigeria (TRAN), Ferguson Oluigbo, has assured free and fair officiating at the 13th Agoma Open Martial Arts Festival, scheduled for Edo State.
The festival would hold from May 13 to 18 at the Sam Ogbemudia stadium in Benin, with a joint technical workshop for referees and coaches, holding on May 14.
Oluigbo told newsmen that over 16 referees would participate at the festival to ensure that each bout was effectively managed to minimise complaints.
The president said that five sports would feature at the competition, including taekwondo, kick boxing, judo, kung fu and karate.
“We are expecting over 16 referees to help in the management of the competition.
“Exposure of the referees will further build on their experiences at officiating and preparing them for international exposures.
“Furthermore, the competition will serve as an avenue to sharpen the skills of the referees and the participants”.
Oluigbo said that only international and national class A referees would be accepted at the festival.
