Pro-Chancellor Hails FUTO’s Infrastructural Dev
The Pro Chancellor of
the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Dr Emma Enemuo, has described as laudable the various infrastructural development projects undertaken by the university management.
Enemuo made the commendation at the commissioning of the FUTO Guest House on the campus in Owerri.
He commended the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Chigozie Asiabaka, and his management team for being frugal with university funds which has enabled him to commence and complete the projects.
“This is a land mark event. It is particularly important as it marks the beginning of a lot of things and an end of wastage of funds,” he said.
Enemuo, who is also the Chairman of the Governing Board of the university, said the board would always support the good work of the management team.
“There is a need to support someone who is doing the right thing,” he said.
Speaking earlier, the vice chancellor said the guest house was for the common good of all as the university had spent a lot of money on the accommodation of its guests.
He thanked the board for the unalloyed support, adding that the vision was to make the university stand at par with others outside the country.
We are talking of sustainability – to deliver what is supposed to be done, independence of utilities is necessary; capacity is another challenge because of inadequate manpower.
“The third one is political; constant change in government and lack of continuity of programmes results in a lot of setbacks in the development and sustainability of the utilities,” he said.
