Police Nab ‘Murtala Mohammed’ For Armed Robbery
Operatives of the
Enugu State Police Command have nabbed one notorious armed robbery suspect identified as Murtala Mohammed.
The suspect, who claimed he hails from Angwa Ali Kasure in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, was arrested in Enugu recently over his alleged involvement in armed robbery as well as other crimes.
Nabbed at a place called “Why Worry” road located at 9th Mile in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State about 5.40pm by the surveillance operatives of the division, acting on a tip-off received from members of the public.
It was further gathered that the suspect acts like a vehicle mechanic at Wagon Park, 9th Mile.
Confirming the arrest, the Enugu State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ebere Amaraizu (DSP), said that full scale investigation into the incident had commenced.
The suspect, he also revealed, had been on the wanted list of the operatives as a member of an armed robbery gang which was smashed at 9th mile recently where the suspect allegedly escaped while his cohorts were nabbed.
“Believing that he would not be identified, he went on, the suspect who is now helping the police in their investigations later resurfaced and in the process he was nabbed by the operatives.
According to the PPRO, recovered from the suspect is a locally made single barrel pistol, adding that he would appear in court at the end of police investigations which he said “is now on top gear”.
