Give Enough Time For Sports In Schools – Director

The Director of
Olymp Africa, a grassroots sports development organisation in Port Harcourt, Dr Chukwue-meka Agi, has advised principals and head teachers to give ample time for sports activities in their schools.
He stated that most of the students and pupil have not gotten the previledge to train with modern sporting facilities.
Dr. Agi said these in an exclusive interview with the Tidesports, at the weekend, in Port Harcourt.
He further called on the authorities of the State Sports Council to send coaches to schools periodically to train students professionally.
“I advice all school heads to declare one day within the week for sporting activities.
Sports council should from time to time send coaches to various schools to coach the students,” Dr. Agi said.
According to him, it is imperative for schools to share training facilities, as it is obtained in advance countries, hence most schools does not have sporting facilities.
“Games masters and mistresses should liase with schools that have training facilities, because one school cannot have all the training facilities.
So it is important to share, with understanding, that is what is obtainable in foreign countries,” he stated.
The director, noted that the facilities in Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex is under utilised, saying that games masters and mistresses should apply through the Ministry of Sports to use the facilities quarterly.
