The National Health In
surance Scheme (NHIS) is to embark on a mop-up registration of employees of Federal Government ministries, departments and parastatal agencies (MDAs) in Ebonyi State.
The state NHIS Co-ordinator, Mr Godwin Mbe, who made this known in an interview with newsmen on Thursday, in Abakaliki, said that the exercise would include the registration of additional dependants of the employees as well as update participating enrollees.
“To this effect, we sent out letters to all the MDAs requesting them to compile and submit the names of their workers that have yet to be captured under NHIS. This exercise is part of our effort to ensure easy access to healthcare services for all Nigerians. We have also in this regard, created offices in all the states of the federation and Abuja,’’ he said.
Mbe said that the exercise would enable the scheme to ensure wider coverage of the state and advised individuals to participate in the exercise to reduce their healthcare burdens and safe them from capital flights.
Mbe also urged the enrollees to report hospitals that failed to offer them prompt attention to the scheme for immediate action.
