Striking health
workers at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, Lagos, last Monday said they would continue with their strike until the hospital’s management addresses the union’s demands.
LUTH Chapter Chairman, Senior Staff Association of Universities Teaching Hospitals, Research and Allied Institutes (SSAUTHRAI), Mr Kehinde Adegoke,  made this known in Lagos.
Adegoke said in Lagos, shortly after the union’s congress to review the strike and map out new strategies.
The workers, under the aegis of the Joint House Unions and Associations (JHUA), had on Dec. 31 embarked on an indefinite strike to further express their grievances.
The association, JHUA comprises health workers in the Medical and Health Workers Union (MWHUN) and the Senior Staff Association of Universities Teaching Hospitals, Research and Allied Institutes (SSAUTHRAI).
It also includes the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM).
“We are tired of promises upon promises by LUTH management which has not yielded any positive result,” Adegoke said.
He said that the strike which began on December 31 was the last resort for the health workers unions.
