Imo Police Arrested 2,245 In 2013 -CP

Command said it arrested 2,245 suspected criminals in 2013, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Katsina, has said.
Katsina who made the disclosure when he briefed newsmen of his stewardship in 2013 in Owerri last Thursday said that 649 were kidnap suspects, 503 armed robbery suspects, 261 baby factory operators, 302 electoral offences, 510 trade in fake and illegal drugs and 20 burglary suspects.
The commissioner attributed the success of his campaign against crime in the state to the Special Ambush Squad which he constituted on assumption of office.
Katsina commended senior officers of the command for identifying with his vision in the fight against crime.
The Commissioner said he gave award to 23 officers for their exemplary service to the command and posthumous award to three officers who died in the line of duty.
He said that 51 criminals who turned themselves in would be rehabilitated, and advised others to abandon crime or face prosecution.
He said the police would not spare anybody in its bid to rid the state of crime.
