Chime Restates Aganda For 2014
Governor Sullivan Chime
of Enugu State re-stated his commitment toward improving the quality of service to the citizens of the state in 2014.
The governor made the commitment Monday in Enugu during the New Year interdenominational prayer session organised for the state and country.
Chime said the improvement would be visible in all sectors of the economy and would continue till the end of his term in 2015.
“Governance in a democratic setting can be likened to a 100-metre race. We are approaching the end of our tenure, but we are accelerating, not slowing down. “We will continue to accelerate until we touch the finish line and refuse to be distracted. We will serve our people until May 29, 2015. “We also hope to be there to offer whatever services to whomever that will take over from us.
“Service is one thing we do not take for granted. We will continue to give our best,’’ the governor said.
The Cathedral Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Rev. Fr. John Nwafor, in his sermon, urged the leaders to distinguish themselves in their endeavours to elicit the blessings of God.
Nwafor, who is also the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state, called for cooperation between the government and the governed.
The joint efforts, he said, would go a long way to ensure improved productivity, noting that “no leader can do it alone adding
“Every leader must share his office, but must firmly coordinate it. We must distinguish ourselves through our works and actions.’’
In his speech, the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Mr Eugene Odo, promised an improved legislation on behalf of members of the assembly.
Prayers were offered for peace, unity and security of the nation during the occasion which featured government functionaries from every sector in the state.
