2014: We ’ll Complete All Our Projects – Amaechi
Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, has promised better governance, transparency and consolidation of the success of his administration in the New Year.
In a New Year broadcast to the people of the state yesterday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers Governor said he was poised to leave a legacy to subsequent administrations.
He assured that the vision of his administration remains hinged on delivering quality education, health care and to expand the corridors of opportunities for the teeming state youth, restore peace and attract businesses to the state.
Amaechi pointed out that in the past six years, the welfare of the people had remained the bedrock of his administration and would remain so, “we choose the good of the people over the selfish ambitions of the few”.
“We choose development that people can see, feel, and touch” he said, adding that, “we feel dedicated to every new project, such as schools, health centres, scholarships and roads.”
The Rivers State governor used the broadcast to reiterate new partnerships for better governance and improvement.
He however said the recent political developments in the state was not about him but about the interest of the state. Amaechi insisted that he has no personal quarrel with President Jonathan whom he described as an illustrious son of the Niger Delta.
But for the negative actions of the federal government, the state chief executive noted that over the past years, the federal government has continued to show apathy in matter regarding to development, of the state by depleting the state resources, failing to refund monies spent on federal projects and the outright denial of placements of Rivers indigenes in federal positions.
Despite several attempts to reverse the trend, he maintained the federal authorities have remained adamant while maintaining that the government is ready to resolve the issues in any constitutional method.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) said such action is nough for any administration to find a better platform as he has done by defecting into the APC.
As the electioneering season approaches, Governor Amaechi also urged the people to ensure that they scrutinise politicians who come to seek for their mandate, assuring that his administration is poised to ensure a smooth and peaceful transition.
