The Vice-Chancellor
of Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, Rev. Fr. Christian Anieke, said last Monday that its vision was to produce graduates outstanding in learning and balanced in character.
Speaking at a news conference to mark its first convocation, Anieke said such graduates would be balanced in personality and ready to pursue epistemic unity in all its ramifications.
He said the philosophy of the school was to pursue dialogue in religion, culture and epistemology.
The vice-chancellor said the university was the first Diocesan Catholic University in Africa, adding that the Catholic Diocese of Enugu was the first to own one.
Anieke said within four years, the university had acquired its identity as one with remarkable academic seriousness, saying that it was a university where emphasis was placed on prayer and integral education.
He said the university would be graduating 100 students out of 165, saying the other 65 students would re-sit their failed courses.
H e called on the state government to partner with the university in infrastructure, especially roads and power projects.
