Organisers Postpone Scrabble Tourney Indefinitely
The world scrabble tournament tagged ‘open mind festival’ earlier scheduled to hold between December 4 and 5, 2013 at Cech Republic has been postponed indefinitely.
Chief coach of Rivers State Scrabble Association, Tony Ikolo disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt recently.
He said that the postponed competition was supposed to be the maiden edition and also new version of the world scrabble championship.
He explained that the tournament would help to prepare athletes adequately for the forthcoming 19th National Sports Festival expected to hold in Calabar, Cross River State, next year.
Ikolo also said that the championship would be used to select and prepare athletes that would represent the state in the National Sports fiesta.
It would be recalled that the competition was expected to hold in Zech Republic.
Meanwhile, a new date is yet to be fixed for the tournament.
He further advised state scrabble athletes to be focused and committed to the sport, in order to perform favourably in the forthcoming National Sports Festival.
