Governor Rochas
Okorocha of Imo State yesterday charged communities in the state to embark on development projects to enhance the living standards of the people.
Okorocha gave the charge while inaugurating the permanent site of an ultra modern children and community hospital at Umuowa in Orlu Local Government Area.
The hospital known as St. Mary’s Children and Community Hospital, Umuowa, was built by the people of the community in partnership with Uzondu and Kindermissionwerk Company based in Germany.
The governor said that his administration attached high premium to effective healthcare delivery.
He said that the state government embarked on construction of 27 new general hospitals in an effort to improve healthcare services.
Okorocha gave the assurance that the hospitals would be adequately equipped to cater for the health needs of Imo people.
The governor thanked Rev. Fr. Sergius Duruoshimere, the Initiator of the Umuowa hospital project for the gesture.
He also hailed Uzondu and Kindermissionwerk Company and the people of Umuowa for embarking on “this life-saving project”.
He donated an ambulance to the hospital, and promised to construct an access road to the hospital.
In his remarks, Duruoshimere commended the governor for meeting the needs of the masses.
The cleric urged Okorocha not to be distracted.
He frowned at the attitude of unpatriotic politicians, saying some Nigerians in the Diaspora refused to return because of such people.
He advised such politicians to repent.
