The traditional ruler of Owerre Ezukala community,Crown Prince Joel Madu, last Monday urged the federal as well as state governments to develop the Ogbaukwu cave and waterfall into global tourist sites.

He said this when he met with former Peoples Progressive Party (PPA), governorship candidate, Mr Godwin Ezeemo, in his palace in Owerre Ezukala community in Orumba South LGA near Nnewi in Anambra.

The traditional ruler, however, pointed out that one Chief Ben Nwankwo attracted the Nollywood Village project to the site.

“ I have figured out that it is the largest cave in the whole of West Africa; that is left out there in Owerre Ezukala in Anambra State.

“We have been calling on the Federal as well as the state governments, private investors to come in there, because it is a lot of investment opportunities down there.

“We do commemorate that place. We do have an annual national festival that comes up once in a year.

“It comes up in May and we celebrated the 4th annual festival this year and we are expecting to celebrate the 5th annual festival.

“We have been asking the government to help in getting it celebrated in the way it supposed to be, so that the whole world would come and see what is down here.

“To the private people and NGOs; there is a lot of cultural and traditional stuff down there,’’ he said.

The traditional ruler said that the federal and state governments could make huge revenue from the site if developed to the standard of being one of the world’s tourist sites.

Earlier, Ezeemo said that he visited the site so as to solicit support for its development.

He noted that such potential world tourist sites are money spinners.

“When I heard about this place just for the purposes of seeing what nature did, I said I would like to come.

“I had to come here and see for myself what nature did in my own land, which I am proud of; I am really happy that we have something to show.
