Quiz Nigeriana Ends In PH With Awards, Funfair

The third edition of quizz
Nigeriana competition, organised by Community Conciliation and Development Initiative (CCADI) has ended with awards, prizes and funfair on Tuesday, October 1st 2013 at the premises of Silverbird cinemas, former Obi Wali Cultural Centre, along Abonnema Wharf road Port Harcourt. The children also used the opportunity to celebrate Nigeria’s 53rd independence anniversary with fun fair at the same venue.
Speaking with The Tide Entertainment at the events the Executive director of CCADI Mr. Amaechi, Kelechi Justin said quiz Nigerian is a competition for secondary schools in Nigeria. According to him, the aim of the competition is to encourage the children to learn more about Nigeria, its geographic location, natural resources, culture and tradition of the people amongst others as well as imbibe the old reading culture in the country.
He said this year’s event tagged 3rd/centenary edition is unique as the organisers throught it wise to see children participate in other events different from the usual match past at such independence celebrations, but to celebrate it with competition and fun. He said apart from the completion, the children equally had fun to mark the independence anniversary.
The Executive Director disclosed that a total of 16 secondary schools across the state participated in the competition which started on the 23rd of September, 2013, but only four schools made it to the grand finale which took place on 1st October 2013 at silver bird cinemas.
According to him, Green Field Academy took first position and received a chaque of N100,000.00 from the organizers, a trophy and Sourenirs, Community Secondary School Igbo/Etche and Active Brain International academy, Rumuomasi emerged 2nd and 3rd positions respectively, while Airforce secondary school, Rumuomasi took 4th position. The schools got books, journals and Souvenirs.
Mr. Amaechi reiterated that the organisers of the annual quiz competition have resolved to take the competition to national level next year. He said the event is sponsored by the Rivers State Internal Revenue Service, Rhythm 93.7 FM, Excel Magazine, Prophetic photography, donated the N100,000.00 cash prize amongst others.
Meanwhile, Mr. Awam Fidelis a teacher with Active Brains Int’l Academy thanked the organisers for organising the competition which he said has widened the scope of their knowledge about Nigeria. According to him, the academic exercise was just centered on all about what they need to know about their great country.
