Niger Delta Comedians Storm PH For Project Laugh 3
Last Sunday, September
22nd, marked a turning point in the comic career of popular Port Harcourt comedian, Prince Hezekiah as comedians from the Niger Delta region stormed the State capital for the third edition of the project laugh gospel invation hosted by the Prince of comedy himself.
Despite the poor turnout of the audience and absence of top comedians as expected, the event recorded a huge success as those who turned out for the show where fully entertained, while some ribs were cracked as a result of the hilarious jokes by the comedians. The audience was equally thrilled by seasoned musicians and professional dancers who complimented the efforts of the humour merchants.
The Artrium event centre stadium road Port Harcourt came alive when some of the popular rib crackers mounted the stager for their historic performances. They included:
The host, Prince Hezekiah, Mr Aporoko (Bayelsa), Laff Prophet (Edo State), Warrri boy, Erujeje (Lagos), Dr. Bunny Hill (Delta), Mad Prophet (Calabar) and Angel the laugh (Bayelsa)
Others were: Dr. Sango, Apostle Paul etc, the musicians that entertained included Pastor Afonye Douglas from Rivers State, Emmycute, (Lagos/PH) while the professional dancers that thrilled the audience were Liberty Production group and 001 dance group amongst others.
Amongst other guest and professional colleagues of the prince of comedy who graced the occasion were, Peter Stone cold, Eddy of Eddy’s wine bar, Baba Ikolo Baba Funky, Akas Baba and Poriko of Wazobia Fm, Arinze Baba and a host of other showbiz personalities.
Commenting on the show, one of the comedians, Mr. Gift Loveday, popularly known as Mc Aporoko from Bayelsa State, said it was a great pleasure to perform at the event. He stated though the turnout was not as expected, the event was a huge success and scored it 80%. According to him; the few that came had fun and they were not going to regret coming to the show or the money spent on tickets.
Mc Aporokoi who has been performing in the comedy industry for the past six years, said”, comedy has been good to me just as I have been good to it. It is a profession and the greatest thing that can happen to any young man, it makes you happy and makes people happy as well.”
He noted that comedy yesterday was all about husthing, but today, it has became a profession,” today we just come out, crack some jokes and get paid for it, comedy has taken us to a higher level as far as entertainment is concerned,’ he said.
Also speaking, the funniest man on Earth, Angel D’ Laugh said he came to the show, to support his friend, Prince Hezekiah, to make sure that Port Harcourt retains it leading position as the home of entertainment in Nigeria and to also contribute towards the success of project laff3, Gospel invation.
For Gospel artiste, Emmy cute who has been playing professional music for the past 15 years, the project laff show is a great one as far as 2013 is concerned. He maintained that music and comedy are pulling weigt here in Port Harcourt and it is a thing the society cannot do without because it makes people happy and relaxes the mind.
The Isoko, Delta State born showbiz personality has an album in the market currently that is making waves titled “Eureka which contains 15 great gospel songs, while a comic album with one to five parts are in the pipeline. He called for sponsorship to enable them shoot the video which he said will contribute greatly to the improvement of comedy and music videos Nigeria.
