Coach Danladi Nasidi of the national U-13 team ?has said that the grassroots team was established by the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) as a feeder team for the national U-17 team.

Nasidi, ?who is currently in Akure for a one-month screening programme to hunt grassroots players for the team, ?disclosed this to newsmen in Akure.

“My team is currently in Akure for a month camping programme to discover, nurture and train players for the national U-13 team.

“I am here in Akure for one month screening programme to develop a team for Nigeria from the grassroots.

“I have gone round some states with my technical officers and apart from the list from Abuja, ?we will be on the lookout for talents during our trial matches.

“We just want to produce the best team for the country,” he said.

Nasidi added that the ?current players in the team were selected from eight states through a zonal elimination that was held in Abuja some months ago.

He listed the states as Sokoto, Ogun, FCT, Niger, Kaduna, Imo, Ekiti and Ondo.

Nasidi added that some friendly matches would be played with different states in the country during the camping programme.
