Imo Assembly Okays Two Commissioner Nominees
The Imo State House of Assembly recently approved two commissioner nominees to fill the positions of Attorney-General and the commissioner for Special Duties.
The nominees, Mr Chukwuma Umeh (SAN) and Mr Jude Ejiogu were nominated by Governor Rochas Okorocha and screened by an ad-hoc committee headed by Mr Simeon Iwunze (PDP-Isiala/Mbano).
Okorocha had in July dissolved the cabinet and also sacked his assistants and advisers.
In a related development, the assembly constituted a five–man ad-hoc committee to identify all abandoned government projects in the state.
The committee headed by Mr Dan Ikpeazu (APGA-Owerri North) was to ascertain the stage of such projects, when they were awarded, the percentage of mobilisation, the reason for abandonment and make recommendations on how to complete them.
The assembly adjourned its plenary to September 10 to enable the members to attend a training in South Africa.
