Enyimba FC, An Institution – Anyansi
Following the come from be
hind triumph over Warri Wolves in the final of the 2013 Federation Cup decided at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos on Saturday, Chairman of Enyimba Football Club, Chief Felix Anyansi has described the club as an institution.
The chairman, who had, more than one week before the match, declared that his club would beat Wolves to the title said that their eventual victory shows that Enyimba has the culture and mentality for success.
He said that the club’s victory should not be seen as its return to the pinnacle of the game in Nigeria because it has never been away from it.
According to him, “Enyimba only failed to win a trophy in the past two years but was at the federation cup final in 2011. Once you are used to winning titles and fail to win in a year or two, it appears as if you are not there for a long time.”
On the club’s knack for success no matter the coach in charge, the chairman said that Enyimba remains the club with the best platform for success in Nigeria.
He believes that having grown to an institution, it is always easy for coaches to come, settle down and do their work effectively at the club.
“The management is always pro-active, that does not mean that the coaches do not play their roles, both coaches and management contribute their quota and jointly work in the best interest of the club,” said Anyansi.
He added that having won the federation cup with the attendant continental ticket, the club is now focused on securing CAF champions league slot next season by trying to win the double this season.
