African Oscars Holds Morrow …President Jonathan, Dame Patience Billed For Awards
Come Saturday September 14, 2013, the third edition of the Nollywood African Film Critics’ Awards (NAFCA) better known as The African Oscars would hold at a red carpet event at the legendary Warner theatre in Washington DC, USA.
The NAFCA award president and CEO, Dr. Victor A. Olatoye who disclosed this to journalists said that winners of the different categories will be announced live during the show. This year’s award according to him, promises to be the biggest event as more than 200 actors, actresses and film makers are expected to grace the occasion.
According to our source, Nigeria’s president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and Liberia’s president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf will bag NAFCA’s Lifetime Achievement award while Image awards will go to Dame Patience Jonathan, while the speaker of the House of Representatives Aminu Tambuwal will also be honoured.
It was further gathered that the awards are broken down to eight categories namely: Best Film, Best drama, Best Comedy, Best Cinematography, Best screen play, Best editing, Best actress in leading role and Best director.
Already, Beverly Naya, has been nominated for best actress while Charles Novia was nominated as best director based on his 2012 comedy flick “Alan Poza.”
