Police Foil Robbery Attempt, Arrest Suspect In Enugu
The police in Enugu State on Sunday foiled a robbery attempt at Ugwuonyeama near Enugu on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.
A statement from the spokesman of the police in the state, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, said the police also arrested one Monday Ogbodo of Akpugo in Nkanu West Local Government Area in connection?with the attempted robbery.
The statement noted that the suspect was arrested after a severe gun battle as the hoodlums tried to rob the occupant of a Honda CRV with registration number ABJ 831 AA.
It stated that two of the hoodlums escaped with gun injuries sustained during the battle with the men of the command.
The statement noted that investigations had commenced into the incident.
“The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu, applauded the efforts of the operatives and called for more positive results toward fighting crime in the state,” it stated.
