Enugu Approves N3bn For More Infrastructure

The Enugu State
Government has approved over N3 billion for the execution of sundry developmental projects in different parts of the state designed to better the living conditions of the citizens.
The projects includes the completion of electricity and supply to
communities, installation of traffic control lights, urban
beautification, and construction of workshops at the mechanic village and perimeter fence at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Awgu.
The State Commissioner of Information, Mr. Chuks Ugwoke made this known  while briefing newsmen at the end of the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House.
Ugwoke disclosed that a breakdown of the sum approved by the council include the sum of over N1.2 billion representing 60% state counterpart contribution  for the electrification of the remaining 38 out of 472 communities in the state that are yet to be connected to the national grid.
According to him, the balance of over six hundred and sixty-eight million naira N668 million for the electricity project would be paid by the local government council of the affected communities.
Ugwoke further stated that the execution of the project was in keeping with the commitment of governor Chime’s administration to link all the communities in the state to the National Grid before the end of its tenure.
The commissioner also told the press that of the total sum, over N1,4 million is for the contract award for the construction of the workshops at the mechanic village at Akegbe Ugwu in Enugu  South Local Government Area of Enugu State. The contract awarded to P.K. Modular Nigeria Limited was to enhance the speedy and successful relocation of the mechanics, welders and other artisan to the village and improve on the aesthetics of the metropolis. Also over N484.7million  of the entire sum was for the contract award to Messrs Digital security Technology limited for the supply and installation of traffic lights at 24 road intersections within Enugu the state capital, the commissioner further stressed. According to him, some of the road intersection where the light will be installed includes Agbani road/Ebony paint road ,Agbani  road/ Amokwe street independence Avenue /Legislative Quarters road, Edinburgh road/Zik Avenue and Edozie Street /Zik Avenue.
