The Ebonyi State Gov
ernment has expressed its willingness to reposition the state civil service for a quality workforce.
The state Head of Service, Mrs Ugo Nnachi, told a news conference in Abakaliki last Thursday that the civil service remained the catalyst for the government to deliver efficient service to its people.
“We are pursuing our vision of raising a civil service that is professional, dynamic, innovative and technologically sensitive. “We shall continue to work assiduously to make sure that the state civil service takes the front seat in terms of commitment and performance of duties,” she told newsmen as part of activities marking the civil service week in the state.
Nnachi noted the import of the civil service to provide continuity to any administration as well as adjust to changes in line with the prevailing policies, adding that countries such as Malaysia and Singapore were developed by their civil service.
Nnachi explained that the state government had in place some capacity building programmes for all categories of workers in its employ.
She also said that so far, 2100 workers had been trained on information and communication technology.
She also said that the landmark projects that changed the landscape of Ebonyi were achieved through the result-oriented civil service.
