APGA Holds Primaries For Guber Poll
The Chairman of
the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Mike Kwentoh, in Anambra State, last Thursday said the party’s August 26 primaries would produce a creditable candidate for the governorship election.
Kwentoh said in Awka that the party was taking pains to look at the credentials of the aspirants to produce the best at the forthcoming primaries.
“The taste of the pudding is in the eating. I can assure you that by the time the party’s candidate emerges after the primaries, the people of Anambra will be happy. “Though names matter in politics, experience has shown us that once you have a credible candidate, your chances are very bright. “The result from the screening exercise shows that we have eligible and competent contestants and after August 26, the most credible candidate would have emerged to face the November 16 election,’’ he said.
Kwentoh also debunked allegations that the party was not going into the elections with the seriousness it required to win, stating that those insinuating such are not close to the happenings in the state.
“This is the thinking of those who are not close to the politics of the state; the score card of the APGA government in Anambra is very high and we wish to continue.
“The delegates elections are over and the result will be ready before the weekend. In politics there are always grievances, but what we have is not enough to hamper the process,” he said.
The APGA chairman said there was no gentleman’s agreement with any of the aspirants.
