The second round of the 2013 Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, resumes today across the country as Premier League clubs seek to better their lot and challenge for the season’s title.
In Port Harcourt, bottom club, Sharks FC is hosting Premier League newcomers, Nembe City FC in what promises to be an explosive derby-like encounter.
It is a match the Blue Angels, as Sharks FC is fondly called, needs to win to rekindle their effort to rescue their season and move away from the relegation zone.
According to Coach of the club, Darbo-Ere Dokubo, Sharks are poised to celebrate victory against Nembe City today because anything less would be unacceptable.
Coach Dokubo said that he is optimistic that today’s game would mark a positive turning point for the club and lay down a marker for upward movement on the league table.
His optimism, he said, stems from the blending of the players injected into the team in the week-nine transfer window.
“The team is now well blended and better balanced, we’re looking forward to better performance home and away. The players are in high spirits and determined not to let the club go down”, said Dokubo.
He urged fans of the club to throng the stadium today and cheer Sharks to victory, and to know that their support would be critical as Nembe City, from Bayelsa, would be like a derby clash.
Meanwhile, Nembe City arrived Port Harcourt yesterday brimming with confidence.
But having lost the corresponding fixture by a lone goal in Yenagoa, Sharks must go the extra mile to take their own three points today.
