Wife of the Imo State Governor, Mrs Nkechi Okorocha, has called on secondary school girls in the state to emulate women achievers in Nigeria.
Mrs Okorocha made the call at the Girl Child Education Summit which she organised with the State Ministry of Women Affairs, in Owerri on Tuesday.
She noted that women, such as the late Margaret Thatcher, Mother Theresa of Calcutta, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Dora Akunyili and others brightly coloured the world, especially Nigeria with their great achievements.
“These qualities of course you know are: faith in God, belief in self, hard work and determination. “Look up to these women and make them your role models,” she said.
She urged the girls to imbibe the qualities that made the women to stand out in the world.
Okorocha said the summit, with the theme: “Women Achievers as Inspiration to the Girl Child in Nigeria,” was organised to nurture and motivate the young girls to become achievers and women of dignity.
The Guest Speaker and Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Owerri, Pastor  Edwin Bayeibo, urged the girls to discover their purpose and focus on it.
Bayeibo said any child who wanted to succeed in life must discover his purpose and achieve it, and  advised them to discover their talents and maintain whatever they could do well without allowing others to distract them.
“Find out whatever you can do well and occupy your space no matter any amount of distraction on your way. “If the great women that we celebrate today in our country could make it, you too can,” he said.
