The wife of Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, Mrs Clara Chime, has called for prayers, especially from women, to surmount the security challenges in the country.
Speaking during the monthly prayer meeting organised for women networks in Enugu on Tuesday, Chime said the culture of prayers, especially among the women, would guide the leaders to achieve their development goals.
She urged the women to preach peace, love and forgiveness in their families to promote good living in the society.
In a sermon titled ‘The Power of Prayer and Thanksgiving,’ Pastor Victor Bamgboye, the Resident Pastor of the Living Faith Church International in Enugu, explained that thanksgiving was the gateway to achieving breakthrough in the state and the country at large.
“Prayer keeps the enemy at bay. Light shatters darkness. There is peace in Enugu State because of prayers offered by these women.
“Let us continually pray because it is only through prayer that God can work wonders in our country by putting the enemies to shame,’’ Bamgboye said.
In an interview with newsmen, the Chairman of the Prayer Network, Pastor Sam Iyiokwe, commended the women from the 17 council areas for attending the monthly session.
He urged the women to continue in the quest for reconciliation in the state.
“I am blessed to be here today. I want the women to carry the messages preached here to their different villages,’’ he said.
The wife of the governor distributed more than 1,000 copies of the Holy Bible to women from different local government areas, including the wives of council chairmen and state executive council members.
