Enugu Schools Sports Festival Gets Underway

The Enugu State Secondary Schools Sports Festival got off the grounds on Monday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium with soccer for boys.

In the opening match, Model Secondary School, Nsukka defeated the Community Secondary School, Akpakwume by 2-0.

Ifeanyi Asogwa opened scoring in the 51st minute while Demian Obodoagu sealed the game for the Enugu North team in the 60th minute.

Mr Ifeanyichukwu Ugwuanyi, the games master of the school, said he was happy for his school.

“After the great chances my school missed in the first half, we were able to make it up in the second half. That is the result of hard work,” Ugwuanyi said.

Mr Ngene Onyebuchi, the games master of the Akpakwume school, on his part, promised to come up with a stronger squad next year.

In the second match, the New Layout Secondary School, Enugu defeated Community Secondary School, Emeudo-Nenwe, 2-1.

The two goals came from Wale Olabide in the sixth and 50th minutes while Aliukwu Kingsley score the only goal for his side in the 23rd minute.
