APFON Plans Seminar For Club Captains
The Association of Professional Footballers of Nigeria (APFON) says it will hold a mid-season football seminar for all captains of football clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
A statement by APFON’s chairman, Austin Popo in Lagos on Monday said the seminar would hold on June 20, in Abuja.
It said the players union, in collaboration with the League Management Company (LMC) would use the seminar to address the inability of players to fully observing their rights and obligations.
It would also use the seminar to address the high level of ignorance among players, especially regarding their rights and obligations.
“We will expose all those to vital areas in contract negotiation, commercial and investment opportunities available to them as professional footballers,” the statement said.
It added that the papers will be delivered by; Nasiru Jubil, an ex footballer, Alhaji Shehu Diko, member LMC, and Yusuf Aminu, Secretary, Association of licencsed players Agents of Nigeria.
It said the LMC chairman would be expected to lead other sports personalities, including the Sports Minister, Bolaji Abdullahi, and Aminu Maigari, President of Nigeria Football Association, to declare the seminar open.
