As the crisis rocking the Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deepens, the State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has dissociated itself from the activities of some youths in the state.
The State Chairman of the Council, Comrade Kingsley Ibanichuka, who said this in a press briefing in Port Harcourt, said that the council dissociate itself from the activities of some youths parading themselves as youth groups and leaders without registration with the appropriate institutions.
The council stressed the need for the youth in the state to channel their energies to constructive engagements, noting that no attempt should be made to drag the youths into the current crisis.
“Never again shall we allow them to use us to attain their political height”, the council said.
The council, however, commended the State Governor, Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for the political maturity displayed even as the chief security officer of the state in the on-going crisis, describing it as a sacrifice to sustain the hard earned peace which he worked for on assumption of office as Governor of Rivers State.
It also commended eminent sons and daughters of the state for commencing a process of reconciliation to end the crisis.
