The Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Rivers State chapter has insisted that it will not transact any business with the Felix Obuah-led  leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) unless the judgement of the Okehi High Court which has been subsisting is set aside or dismissed by a higher court of competent jurisdiction.
ALGON which came up with the decision after its emergency meeting last Monday, also resolved to formally protest to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) demanding his immediate intervention to check the activities of the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, which they alleged had engendered and promoted breakdown of law and order in the state.
In a three-page statement signed by its chairman, the Mayor of Port Harcourt, Hon Chimbiko Akarolo, the PRO, and Chairman of Bonny Local Government Council, Barr Edward Pepple, as well as the secretary of the association, Ojukanye Flag Amachree, Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Council, the association pledged to embark on public enlightenment and sensitisation of the  citizens and residents in Rivers State on the need to continue to be law-abiding and peaceful in spite of deliberate acts of provocation by disgruntled elements in the state.
The  association expressed satisfaction with the way and manner Governor Amaechi was handling the current situation in the state, as it also expressed its firm and irrevocable commitment to the government and people of the state.
The group promised not to abdicate its constitutional duties and obligations vested upon it by the  constitution, and vowed to  take  every legal and legitimate means to ensure that its authority was not unlawfully emasculated or circumvented by persons whose mission was to create a state of anarchy in the state.
