Two In Police Net Over Robbery
Operatives of the Anti-kidnapping Unit of the Police Command in Enugu have arrested two suspects for alleged armed robbery and car snatching.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Ebere Amarizu, disclosed this in an interview with our correspondent in Enugu.
Amarizu said the yet-to-be identified gunmen allegedly snatched a commuter Hiace bus from one Chibueze Nweke on February 9 at Ozubulu in Anambra.
He said the police anti-robbery squad identified the said bus in one of the relaxation parks in G.R.A Enugu, leading to the arrest of one of the suspects.
Amarizu said the suspect (name withheld) led the operatives to Obiagu in Enugu where the second suspect was arrested.
Amarizu said the suspects claimed to have bought the bus from an unknown person, repainted it and got it registered as ACA 377 XA.
He said the two suspects were helping the police in their investigation.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Tonye Ebitibituwa has lauded the efforts of his operatives, and that of members of the public who gave useful and timely information.
Ebitibituwa gave assurance that his command would continue to partner members of the public, other security agencies and relevant stakeholders in the fight against crime in the state.
