Minister Harps On Performance Monitoring And Evaluation

The relevance of the Software Application Products, (SAP) and Performance Monitoring and Evaluation ( PM&E) to planning and achieving set objectives and outcomes has been highlighted

Speaking at the “SAP Performance Monitoring & Evaluation Executive Seminar” for Ministries, Departments and Agencies, (MDAs), held in Abuja, SAP Managing Director of West Africa Region, Richard Edet, said that PM&E enables government to effectively plan for growth and interventions in various sectors to stimulate further growth and development.

In his keynote address, “Achieving Nigeria’s Transformation Agenda Through Effective Performance Monitoring & Evaluation”, the Minister of National Planning, Shamsudeen Usman, stated that the transformation agenda of the Federal Government is a medium term development strategy to speed up Nigeria’s march towards becoming one of the 20 largest economies in the world by 2020 anchored on job creation and laying a foundation for robust economy.

Represented by the Director, Monitoring and Evaluation, he said the current administration is focusing on priority issues such as Good Governance, Human Capital Development, Security, Power, Infrastructure and the Real sector.

Also the Head of Business Analytics and Technology, Aderinola Oloruntoye, in his presentation on “Performance Monitoring and Evaluation for Government,” emphasised that SAP’s Performance Monitoring and Evaluation Solution is one of the best globally and will help the MDAs drive efficiency in planning, budgeting, execution, reporting and evaluation. “Information and intelligence required for decision making are made available at the click of a button. These will enhance proper resource allocation, proper alignment with the vision and goals of the leadership,” he affirmed.
