Okorocha Offers ANCOPSS N5m Lifeline
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, has donated N5 million to All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS).
Okorocha made the donation at the South-East Mandatory Continuing Professional Training programme (MCPT), organised by ANCOPSS in Owerri.
Represented by Prof. Antony Anwuka, the Secretary to the State Government, Okorocha gave the money in response to the request by the organisation.
He said that any subvention released by his administration was aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
The governor pointed out that education was the first priority of his administration, saying: “we will continue to be the star of the East of the Niger and in Nigeria”.
Earlier, Imo ANCOPSS President, Mr Goddy Amaku, said the programme provided a forum for principals to exchange views and ideas on education matters.
He said the programme would help to improve their skills and competence.
“We have lectures on current issues of educational value by erudite scholars carefully selected from any part of the country,” he said.
He requested for a bus to enable principals attend meetings and workshops, adding that the organisation was also in need of a secretariat in the state capital.
Amaku urged the governor to approve allowance for principals to make a difference between their salaries and those of their subordinates on the same grade level.
