The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Nnamdi Okoro-Affia, has advised the 2013 Batch ‘A’ corps members deployed to Imo State to be law-abiding.

He gave the advice when he visited the corps members at their orientation camp in Nkwere.

He urged them to contribute their quota to the development of the grassroots which he said would lead to national development.

“Do the right thing at the right time, attend lectures, be security conscious, avoid free ride in cars with tinted glasses, avoid meaningless parties in the name of welcoming you to Imo State.

“Take note, the choice is yours to serve and go with good reputation or in shame,” he said.

Okoro-Affia urged the corps members to endure the challenges in the camp, saying they were meant to prepare them for better tomorrow.

Earlier, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Chinwe Ojukwu, said that in spite of inadequacies in the camp, both the officials and the corps members had been determined to ensure the orientation was successful.

She commended the conduct of the corps members, saying that the camp had been peaceful since their arrival.

“They have displayed very high degree of discipline, understanding, patience, tolerance and willingness while participating in all activities.

“They have been described at various times as the best crop of corps members we have had on this camp in recent times,” she said.
