Chime Assures Logistics Support Over CP’s Murder
Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, has reacted sharply to the killing of the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chinwike Asadu by unknown gunmen last Saturday in Enugu assuring that the State would provide all necessary assistance to security agencies in the country to ensure that the killers are tracked down and brought to book.
The Governor who gave the assurance in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Chukwudi Achife last Monday described the killing of the police commissioner in Enugu as shocking and dastardly, adding that no effort would be spared to fish out the culprits to serve as deterrent to others.
He expressed regret that Mr Asadu, who was an indegene of Enugu State, suffered such a cruel fate after many years of dedicated service to the nation. According to him, the development was even more disheartening as Mr. Asadu was close to retirement from service when he was murdered by yet to be ascertained killers.
Governor Chime, therefore, extended his condolences to the Inspector General of Police, (IGP), the family of the deceased Police Commissioner and the government and people of Kwara State, making it clear to them that the people of Enugu State shared their grief and outrage over the sudden death of Mr. Asadu, which he described as unfortunate incident.
It would be recalled that Mr. Asadu, Kwara State Commissioner of police came into Enugu to see members of his family when he was attacked and shot dead by unknown gunmen last Saturday.
Mr. Asadu was said to have been attacked and shot dead by unknown gunmen in a bus who trailed him on his way back after seeing off his lawyer friend who visited him.
His Police orderly, as well as his personal driver were also badly wounded during the sudden attack which has been described by thousands of people in the state as unfortunate incident.
