South Africa goalkeeper, Wayne Sandilands has  praised Itumuleng Khune for the first-choice goalkeeper’s string of crucial saves against Morroco.

Khune’s heroics against the Atlas Lions earned him the Man of the Match award, and more importantly, ensured that Bafana Bafana qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations knock-out stages following the 2-2 draw.

“He’s had a very solid tournament. Obviously having the number one jersey for over fifty games shows you the quality of goalkeeper he is,” Sandilands said.

“I think he did really well in the last game and I envision he will do well in the rest of the tournament.”

The Mamelodi Sundowns shot-stopper believes Bafana Bafana will be able to overcome Mali in their quarter-final clash on Saturday, but admits there are some minor issues that the team is still working on.

“We just need to make sure we tighten up in certain areas and we are working very hard at that,” Sandilands added.

“Obviously we know Mali is a very good team and are capable of real quality moments so we have to be ready.”
