Gombe State Government said it purchased two ultra-modern scanning machines to provide a better resolution scanning for patients at the state’s Specialists Hospital in Gombe town.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Kennedy Ishaya, disclosed this in Gombe recently. Ishaya said initially the hospital was using an ordinary scanning machine before the procurement of the modern ones.

The commissioner said apart from the scanning machines, the ministry had done a lot of expansion work at the specialist hospital.

He said out of the 11 fully-equipped ambulances that the state government purchased, one was given to the Federal Road Safety Commission for the conveyance of accident victims from the scenes to hospital.

Ishaya said the state government had also expanded its free antenatal services for pregnant women to cover under five children, adults from 65 years and above as well as people suffering from sickle cell and epilepsy.  Ishaya appealed to patients to avail themselves with the services of the new scanning machines offered by the government
