Assistant coach of the Rivers State Weightlifting Association, Reginald Briggs has reaffirmed his promise to parade young talents that would represent and lead the state to glory in the forthcoming 15th National Schools Sports Festival.

Coach Briggs made the reaffirmation this week in an interview with Tidesports at the Alfred Diete-Spiff Sports Complex, Port Harcourt.

According to him, preparations have began for the 15th National Schools Sports fiesta which is scheduled to be hosted by Rivers State from the 24th of this month.

He said that he would do his best in seeing that the children who would be picked to represent the state are well-groomed. He added that they could be used to replace those who are fading away in the sport.

“Presently, I am working on gathering some few children to add to the ones we have on ground in order to prepare them adequately for the task ahead”.

“Though this is going to be our first participation in the National School Sports Festival, I promise to do all I can to ensure that the state is well represented”, he pledged.

He, however, noted that it would not be an easy task for the association since, the body would be featuring for the first time in the history of the school sports festival.
